I saw a show once, I think it was like the mothers car show rod of the week project car thing. They made door panels out of a peice of cardboard that they glued a sheet of foam to, then used spray glue and put tweed over it after they shaped the foam to how they wanted it. they also cut designs into the foam and layed the tweed into the designs(it was like a flame design). You could do the same, but use leather/carpet.
