Default Dynomax Ceramic Headers

My original exhaust is just about gone. What are the pros & cons about Dynomax Ceramic Coated headers? I've heard so much about them.

The previous owner installed a set for me. I can't see any downsides. They still look new after 3 years.

The pros far outweigh the cons, especially if yur lookin for better performance. It usually requires re-routing the ignition wires over top of the valve cover with some type of wire looms to keep the wires away from the hot tubes. The only drawback which is no real biggie would be increased temps in the engine compartment. Just get some good gaskets to start with. Toss the ones that come with the headers. Get felpro sandwiched steel for the head flanges, and Percys deadsoft aluminum for the collectors and be done with it. Ive had these gaskets on mine for two yrs now and theyre still holding good. Ive even had to re-tighten the head flange bolts a few times and still have not burned a gasket yet.

I put the Dynomax Ceramic Headers on my 78 and had only one minor
problem. Compared to the Hooker Headers, the Dynomax come down
and back at a slight angle and I had to have my pipes reworked to match the angle of the headers. I recently saw a 79 with Hookers and they seem to come down and angle straight back. Now I honestly have no idea what this does to performance and I am very pleased with the Dynomax Headers but the angle was an issue.

Actually the angle is good. The Dynomax are not quite full length. They stop short on a angle. This helps alot with ground clearence. Ive seen the Hooker full length headers on smallblock vettes before. They hang down under the frame. The angle allows you to keep the pipes tucked away better.

All and all a good value. But as stated get some better gaskets and intake bolts.

I had a minor problem with a set and Jegs/Dynomax sent me a new set. I am happy with the product. They installed very easily and look and sound good. I definitely recommend the ceramic coated type, they look much better.
