73 BB Starter Wiring
I have looked at the archives and don't find what I need for the starter wiring on the 454.
My starter has the large lug on top of the solenoid and two terminals marker "R" and "S"
I have a wiring harness that has no colors in the wires, they are all individualy wrapped in absestos. Here are the terminals that I have.
+12 cable from the battery - this should go to the large terminal on the solenoid?
Frame ground cable - I assume ground to a starter rear support bolt that goes into the block.
A large ring terminal in the harness that is the size of the large terminal on the solenoid. This seems to go only on the large starter lug with the battery cable.
A black ground wire that is about 12 gauge. Assume you ground on the starter? Any place special?
A small lug with a straight spade connector on it.
A small wire with a lug bent at 90 degrees.
I would sure appreciate someone telling me which terminal to connect where. The wiring diagrams are confusing and referencing colors does no good as the the wires are wraped in absestos.

Your thoughts about all of the wires seem correct except for the two small ones. There are two small terminals on the solinoid. The inner one, is the starter and usually has a purple wire. The outer is the py-pass to the coil, usually pink. After 69 they started using some woven covers for these and the colors are often hard to determine. You can tell which is the starter by turning the key to start and watch for 12V at the end of the wire terminal. You can tell which is to the coil by checking the continuity to the coil wire.
