Don't do it. Wrap tends to develop weak spots and promotes metal fatigue in headers, breaking it down causing it to prematurely rust and split. It has also been a primary source of fires by overheating the exhaust...
Go with ceramic coating or SS, you'll be glad you did.
I have it on my car for about 10 years and like the stuff but I do not drive in the rain, it is hard to install and can look ratty after a little use.
It does keep the heat way down but voids some warranties on the headers because of the retained heat.
I personally will go with coated headers the next time.
This is a shot of my headers with 10 year old wrap on them.

i have dyno max headers ceramic coating is almost all gone less then a year.
I wrapped my previous headers & was really amazed how well the wrap worked. I could not only feel the heat difference inside the car, but could also change the spark plugs without melting my hands.
A word of caution though: I've heard of people cracking their header tubes because of the wrap holding so much heat.
Anyone use it and hows it work on keeping the heat down?
I ran it for 4 years on a set of cheap blackjack headers - with absolutely no problems - no leaks - no rust through. Also drove it in the rain and snow with them - if you do this make sure to use the available silicone spray for them.
header wrap will void warrantees - like anyone takes advantage of warrantees after 5 years. I would use it again if i felt it necessary - I've read all the articals about how "Bad" header wrap is, and I have no doubt that the effect they see can happen, however I wonder about how long you have to wait for such a result.
If I have to replace a set of $85 dollar headers every 5 years and I can have twice the heat retention of Jet hot for 1/3 the price I think its well worth it.

Is the coating gone or is it just dull? They should be under warranty so you should be able to get them re-coated or another set. Mine are a little dull but the coating is still there.

Is there a warrantee?
I bought my hedmans used, the coating is as good as new and retains heat fairly well, although not nearly as well as wrap. I found with wrap on my camaro I could drive five mile to a cruise spot and them amaze people by reaching under the hood and (very) briefly grabbing the header tubes, try that with jet hot, ceramic or SS tubes........
It takes me about 20 minutes on the expressway to get to the cruise night. I usually take a rag and wipe any dust off the motor and fender wells. When I first raise the hood there is no heat wave that stricks you face and if my hand brushes against the header pipes while dusting you don't get burned. Sure they are hot but not something that instanly burns your hand even if you drove 20 miles in hot weather.
The header wrap works just doesn''t look as good as coated headers.
I found that soaking the header wrap in water for 15 minutes before applying really softens it and makes it easier to install.
I used them on a camaro and I've got them on my 71' , as a matter of fact I just wrapped the pipes past my trannie pan, I hope that helps even more with cabin heat :yesnod:
I wrapped my coated headers 3 years ago. No problems with it. Noticed a big difference in sound. The tinny header sound went away. Also much less engine comp heat. I drive mine daily and also in the rain and sofar it has held up fine. I did spray it liberally with the special header wrap spray though. I think it is supposed to keep water out.
Anyone just use those premade sleeves? The heat off the Formula's headers is nasty compared to the heat off the Dynomax coated headers so I want/need to do something.
Don't Use it. It works for a while. I had mine wrapped for two years, no problems, then bang, hole in the header collector. Why? Crystallization. I was warned when I put it on, but did not listen. Now I am getting Sanderson with coating. Looks 100% better (no ratty look) and will contyain the heat. Spend the extra bucks and save the time wrapping and go for the coated headers.
Just to add a little confusion here. I wrapped mine 7 years ago. Reduced underhood temps nicely and not a problem with the headers at all. I accedently ripped about a 3/4" hole in mine while fighting the starter a few years back. The pipe underneath the wrap was pristine with the high temp black paint that I put on years ago. I do not drive in the rain (unless I get caught) and I am very careful not to get oil on them when I do an oil change.
