Would it make you feel better if I said no? This is not directed at you dude. I have no beef with anyone. There isn't a person on this forum that I don't like, but if you do something silly I'll call you on it. Dosn't mean you're an idiot, jsut what you did was stupid. Now can everyone stop being so soft, and thin skinned. Geez... :grouphug:

Quite the rant coming from what appears to be a 19 yr old with a Vette. What a deadly combination!
here's my 2¢. just because a lot of younger kids are the ones doing the street racing, doesn't mean they all do. i for one am 18 with not one, but 2 vettes, and am very much against street racing. with in the past year, i've got together a group (20+ kids) and we all go to the local track (~ 1 hour away). some race, some watch, and we all have fun. the point is to keep some of my friends from doing things they will regret later in life, as many of them used to street race before our little regular get togethers began. so just because there's plenty of young ones that street race, that shouldn't give us all a bad rep :nonod:

BloodVette way to go. You raced, got caught and now going to pay the debt to society. All in all it could have happened to alot of people on this forum.

Is it that bad? Not to me. Is there a reason that Corvettes now come with 350hp stock? yes. To race on the street. Is there a reason that people on this board build up their motors ? Yes. To race. If your not racing someone your still going over the speed limit and that is not legal either.

Fact is that you can street race. There is a penalty for it, but nothing to actually stop you from doing it. The whole car industry is built around street racing. Alot of people do it. We do need more tracks. Its really easy to tell someone to "save it for the track" but to actually do it is near impossible where im at.

I got a speeding ticket. Cost me 50 bucks. I would gladly pay 50 dollars to have as much fun as I did.

Get a lawyer. You may be able to get out of it.

ok ok, i guess I will have to set things straight here

I'm one of bloodvette's best friends, and have been cruising with him for about 2 years (1 year with corvettes)
Now, you will see us come onto corvetteforum bragging about the 180 we pulled, or the smokeshow we did, but let me clarify that these incidents are few and far between......bloodvette and I will only pull a spirited 360 in an abandoned area far from civilization, and rarely do we romp the gas in the city.......to be quite frank, bloodvette, I and a fellow local vetter got pulled over for blocking traffic three abreast down a 3 lane street, doing 30 in a 35 zone........we had a good laugh

another thing, I think streetracing should be defined here, bloodvette and I have punched the gas at a red light, but to no more than 30mph.......i think the real streetracing and danger lies in the people that race 1/4 - 1/2 mile races down city streets reaching upwards of 120mph.........that;s crazy
some of the locals gather on abandoned highways and street race, bloodvette and I have never participated, and have never attended such things

so to conclude, i'll vouch for bloodvette and his driving, and I know that on that wild and crazy night when he got his racing ticket, he probably wasn't exceeding 30mph...........a race? i don't think so

you know what, it would be funny to read a lot of what was said here 10 years down the road

i know I'll be in my rocking chair mumbling about those damned kids leaving slush cups on my lawn.........i can't wait, I'll be the worlds biggest complainer......right now I find myself complaining about skateboarders.....

i better buy my white shoes and move to florida......

when everything is said and done here, we'll all have a group hug and laugh because when it boils down to it.........we drive corvettes

i can't believe you people are getting on this guy like this!:bs
you've never opened your car up anywhere other than a race track?? :skep:
Granted it may not have been the best decision he could have made but he who has not sined, cast the first stone!
:iagree: I know I've done it (not raced the vette, but atleast got on it a little on the road.)

The LAW can be used as a big club to smack you over the head! :smash:
"STREET RACING" has been identified as a major evil thing, so very strict laws have been passed. You used to get tickets for "excessive display" or some such offense, now if your tires break loose and screech on acceleration you risk being branded a "STREET RACER" and your car impounded. I think there are different degrees of offenses and danger. People die in auto accidents every day, and most of them are avoidable. Distractions (cell phones, radio dials, screaming kids) cause far more fatalities than "STREET RACING". I am not condoning a ***** to the wall race at 100+mph down a dark residential street, but it is not the same thing as a side-by-side nose-to-nose goose from a green light to 45 mph. You tell me? At what point does it become an official STREET RACE ? 1/2 throttle? audible tire screech? 10 meters per second per second acceleration? There is a gray area out there. MJ

You are right, my comments to you were inappropriate and unwise. I don't know enough about you to make any statements like that and I apologize Dwayne.

I have been pulled over and literally talked down on by police before, because of my age and not my actions. I do hold some resentment in this area, especially when someone like you takes the attitude of BloodVette being wrong and stupid. He was wrong, and I don't race my car on the street either (It's not worth getting my liscence pulled)...

I just feel that maybe you should keep your comments to yourself sometimes. I should learn to do the same. The last thing John needs is you telling him he's a moron for racing on the street. You weren't there, and you have no idea how dangerous it was. I have friends who smoke pot and drive, and drink and drive... if I should let my vette accelerate a little.... well, I know it's not nearly as dangerous as my friend in his 2WD V6 96' Ranger on a good Friday night. :nono:

I have a lot of respect for the guys that put thousands of dollars into their cars and take them to the track... I have tones of respect for those guys that do all their work themselves, and even more respect for those new guys getting into cars with their lives ahead of them. ITs the old, stupid, farts that bought their corvettes at age 45 that don't know what a Philips screw driver is, that don't know that a 10mm socket can work on a 3/8 bolt head if your on the side of the road.. they know brand name and part number of their spitfire sparkplugs but have never changed them in their life, then come on here like king $h|t and try to tell us hardworking canadians/americans how to safely have fun. If i was as boring as you I swear I'd slit my own throat. If your so stuck up with your $1000 bills in your pocket that you won't squeel a tire becuase your too immortal to so called "stoop to our level of fun", what is your idea of enjoyment of life. You own the nicest car in the world IMO why the hell are you gonna Grandma it around, you won't let your kids drive it, you tihnk that car was built for you, its time you start writing your will, and give your corvette to your grandson with a pair of lead shoes. ITs guys like you that really **** me off, Glutamine and I approach you old #$%ers at carshows and you raise your noses and turn away. Was jsut gonna ask you the procedure on installing a convertible top.... but you don't know anyways do you!? I think every car at a show should be judged by how much work the owner put into it not how much his fat wallet allowed him to get detailed. couple of us C3 guys cruise around religiously trading stories and discussing tactics, new ideas, and sharing information. Then YOU drive by, we wave you over and up goes the nose. I didn't know vette's came with carr, ots on the seats, theres something up your behind. enjoy your corvette like the rest of us do.
