Sorry, I didn't mean to offend. I was just trying to say that most of us know where you're coming from, and your perspective will change, whether you like it or not. Good luck. :seeya
Re: Got a ticket for street racing..... (bloodvette80)
bloodvette80, relax on the "old guy" "young guy" crap would ya? Age has nothing to do with it.... I met a guy while I was in Nashville for the 50th, he sorta looked like Einstein, y'know 55 ish, curly grey hair. Well it turns out that this guy had been wanting a vette ever since he was a kid (young man) and a friend of his "inherited one"
He could never afford the one he wanted so he finally decided, 6 years ago, to find it part by beat up part and build it himself. He put every nut and bolt together himself and then drove it to the 50th. Now that's a vette man, and that's cool. It's attitude my friend, not age or even mechanical ability. The faster you learn that ... the better off you'll be. So, from all us "old farts" (what do you say guys, anyone over 40 LOL!!) to you young guns, ....enjoy yourselves, especially your youth, but dissin' the experienced guys, and braggin about ... well ... "show off" stuff, just isn't cool.
Re: Got a ticket for street racing..... (bloodvette80)
Friday Night: Corvette vs Mustang (5.0L) & Chevy 1/2 tonne (built 327)... Talking to 1/2 tonne driver at red light. He brags about his 400HP 327. (I have to admit it was loud). ok so lets see! 30 seconds later cops are after me with Sirens... pulled all three of us over and gave us all racing tickets. The government made a bundle in about 3 seconds. There is no set fine but i believe maximum is a $900 fine and 12 demerits. If its any consolation (which it isn't) I smoked them both off the line and the whole way. So take it from me... leave it for the track. :banghead:
You made am istake, big deal. Don't let the haters get you down. Also, lucky your not in CA, they would of impounded your car.
read over my post you dork, it says i appreaciate guys that do all the work themselves, thats how i am, any problem I've had, I fix myself, and this is my second corvette, the first one I build ground up. I DO respect the guys that do the work themselves ten times more than anyone else, CAN YOU READ. I promise you i will enjoy myself, Especially my youth, and also my teeth and hair.
Re: Got a ticket for street racing..... (bloodvette80)
Bloodvette80....enough :bs
By the way....."increpid" (used on pg. 1 of your post) and "decrepid" (used most recently) are not words. Try "decrepit". Please stop giving our American friends reason to believe that IQ's in Canada are based on a similar formula to our dollar exchange rate? Thanks.....
I'm having a great time getting you worked up 68shark. I apologize for the spelling error, I didn't think this was a spelling test. besides, you don't really care you shoot at us when we're helping you out.

I'm enjoying this too Bloodvette! Like a street race, but no possibility of anyone innocent getting killed! If I offended anyone, it's people who think "street racing" is ok. You, on the other hand, took on an entire generation of Vette owners and called them everything from old farts to dorks. Not exactly the best way to make friends. I do know my way around a car, I think you can tell that from the questions I ask and sometimes even answer because that's what this forum is all about. And you know what? Next time you have a question/concern about something and you post it, I'll be more than happy to chime in on the answer. And even help you understand how a convertible top is fitted. Now....let's shut this one down and move on. Cheers!
Re: Got a ticket for street racing..... (bloodvette80)
Well, this old fart knocker just takes his cane and mashes it on the gas pedal and between the seat and hangs on!!!! :smash: In all reality, Bloodvette got what he deserved. Almost 1k in fines not to mention the points and the increase in his insurance he will surely see will be enough. I used to support my local municipalities as well as the City of San Antonio till I was about 24 years old. Got tired of spending money for tickets, court cost, defensive driving classes( in the exception for ins. break).
Finally, started listening to my parents and slowed down. I was truely amazed at how much money I was able to spend when I was not supporting the City of San Antonio with traffic fines! Think he will learn his lesson, not so much of a crazy thing to do..just very dangerous. Just brought my baby girl home for the hospital, and when you become a parent..if you live that long.. you quickly become aware of the risk and consequences of speed killin out on the open roads. Also working in the hospital for 21yrs, have seen alot of street racers die..these are the guys that don't get to come out and tell THIER STORIES!
Again, as I have said before. Owning these kind of cars is a privilege and requires restraint and common sense. With these to attributes you will go far in life, not to mention, those that will be saved by your concious decision to use said attributes.
peace..<*)))><
Re: Got a ticket for street racing..... (Glutamine83)
damn, couldn't crack a smile with the hemi comment
I thought it was pretty funny! But because it followed my serious and thoughtful comment I was deeply offended and now expect a full and public apology!! MJ
no offence directed to you. mostly anger towards the comments I received indicating i'm disrespectful to other drivers and as you noted, what identifies street racing, 1/2 throttle, excessive noise. As i said i may have travelled 30 yards under acceleration without speeding or losing control and I don't feel I should be put in a catagory of a crazed leadfoot with no care for anyone's safety. A justly deserved apology to you.
" Please stop giving our American friends reason to believe that IQ's in Canada are based on a similar formula to our dollar exchange rate? Thanks....."
Re: Got a ticket for street racing..... (Glutamine83)
Now, you will see us come onto corvetteforum bragging about the 180 we pulled, or the smokeshow we did, but let me clarify that these incidents are few and far between......bloodvette and I will only pull a spirited 360 in an abandoned area far from civilization, and rarely do we romp the gas in the city.......to be quite frank, bloodvette, I and a fellow local vetter got pulled over for blocking traffic three abreast down a 3 lane street, doing 30 in a 35 zone........we had a good laugh
another thing, I think streetracing should be defined here, bloodvette and I have punched the gas at a red light, but to no more than 30mph.......i think the real streetracing and danger lies in the people that race 1/4 - 1/2 mile races down city streets reaching upwards of 120mph.........that;s crazy
some of the locals gather on abandoned highways and street race, bloodvette and I have never participated, and have never attended such things
so to conclude, i'll vouch for bloodvette and his driving, and I know that on that wild and crazy night when he got his racing ticket, he probably wasn't exceeding 30mph...........a race? i don't think so
Sounds like some real responsible driving going on there. Speed does not matter, what if the car fishtails, gets into the opposing lane and hits someone else head on.
Stunts like that don't belong on the open road, and before you guys call me an old fart, I'm not that much older than you and have driven the vette hard, but that was in Germany where it is allowed. I have never had a speeding ticket in all my life, well.. no i got nailed once by a radar speed trap for 2mph speeding. (they already nail you when you are 5km/h over the legal speed limit)
Re: Got a ticket for street racing..... (bloodvette80)
I'm glad you learned your lesson fairly easily. I used to street race in my young and foolish days. I joined the air force, moved away from friends and family. I lost 5 good friends "back home" to high speed crashes within 1 year of joining up. Had I stayed, I may have been a statistic too.
Now - <flame suit on>
To all supercritical and condescending posters, esp. Dwayne 76 - how dare you take such a high and mighty holier than thou stance on this issue? I don't believe for one second you have never accelerated briskly nor exceeded the posted speed limits. The man admitted he was wrong, and wanted to share a life lesson with us all. He did not ask for a flame-fest, and he certainly does not deserve the tar and feathering he has been receiving here. All the adolescent whining about street racing being so bad utterly demolishes your claims of maturity. So you can ignore somebody goading you on the road. Big Deal. You lack the self control to keep the torrents of self righteous drivel from spewing from your pie-hole, which casts serious doubt on your abilities to engage in mature, meaningful, and productive discussion. This thread is most definately NOT what I'd expect from this forum.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
