Car Fire
Had an incident this winter with my -ord ranger when the temp dropped to something like -20F. The parking brakes wouldn't disengage. I had no choice, if I didn't go to work I'd get fired and I had no other car so I drove it to the end of the street and played with the pedal, no dice. Drove two blocks and played with the pedal, still no dice. Drove about a mile and pulled into a construction site and hopped out to find what I figured was steam (at 20 below) coming out of the wheel drums. Hopped back in the truck, played with the pedal, unlocked like normal. I figured they would get hot as funk but never considered anything significant burning. (Okay, insert joke about burning fords not being significant here.) I always thought that brakes and surrounding areas were designed to take extreme heat.
In retrospect, that job wasn't even worth a ford.
