Guy just pulled in my shop w/a green 67 427 4 spd. Awesome car. We start talking and all the sudden smoke starts pouring out of the rear passanger side. Brakes locked up on him. Going to go check it out in a few when it cools off. Good thing he had a fire extinguisher!!!
Wouldnt you notice?? I mean, isnt your car kind of dragging around, slowing rapidly when you let off the gas, pulling sharply to one side??? MJ

When I bleed my brakes one time I took it out for a test drive and the brakes got real firm then it started to feel like it was dragging. I pulled over the the brakes where smoking a little. I had to take the master cylinder off and adj the rod to release them a little.
He said he noticed it but he was on a bridge and didn't want to leave it there. My shop is about a 1/2 south of the bridge so he decided to drive it the rest of the way.
EEK, that's scary !!! I never heard of a car catching fire from the breaks  . I've been to enough dirt races to see the brakes glowing as they go into the corners though.
same thing happened to me on the 71. Was caused by brake hose collapse on the right rear. Luckly stoped in frount of a car repair shop with a extinguisher. Cost be a caliper. got away real cheap on that one. needless to say all brake lines replaced next thing. I saw years of work almost dissapear. :)
Yeah it was a close call. Damage wasn't to bad. We are going to rebuild the t-arm though just to be on the safe side. His seals were a little ruff. He also wants to go w/ the SS brake lines now. After that we'll give her a bath and she'll be ok.
The car is awesome. It's not a matching numbers car although when he brought the car he was told it was. The frame was also bent on it so we straightened it out for him. He's got 255/40/ 17's in the rear and 225/45/17's up front. Since he found out that the car is non-matching numbers he's going all out w/it. His is trying like hell to get that new GM crate motor for 12K. It's the 427 w/like 725hp. It sounds sweet now but it will really rumble when he gets that block in there.
