I need to vent about the Corvettes listed on E-Bay
and the Corvettes listed on the Forum. I see Vettes
listed on E-Bay that are very comparable to the
Vette I have listed on the Forum; the difference is
the E-bay cars are getting 8-10 bids while my car
on the Forum hasn't had a single offer! What's up
with that? Anyone else got any input? :( :(
Well, how many pictures are linked or posted to your car on the forum? Pictures play a large role in the buying process.
There are more shoppers on e-bay obviously...maybe if you find something comparable to yours that has a bid on it...send the buyer(s) some e-mails and try and push your car. If one of them gets outbid, he may come after yours....
Another suggestion: Insurance Fire. State Farm can settle a claim in less than 24 hours!!
Make sure your motor mounts don't get burned though, because most fires in an engine bay start on the top side of the motor, often doing very minimal amounts of damage to the motor mounts. Note -> Don't melt your windshield, they will know it was fraud.
Also -> Shorted wires are beaded at the ends, not sharp. If you are going to have a "short"...don't cut the wires and forget to melt the ends!
Often enough engine bay fires will not expand pass fire wall without any accelerants...perhaps an interior fire would be more appropriate? :)
most of us already have vettes so this is a place to complan and discuss problems about them. unfortunatly most people dont know to look here to buy a vette. also you are a braver person than i am. i would not want to sell my vette on the forum, due to the fact that i am afraid everyone here would pick it to piececs and cause the selling price to go lower. remember with ebay there is less knowledge of our cars. i have noticed the better the shine the higher the selling price, forget how it runs..... thats not important

:iagree: Once you find a car similiar to yours, wait till the auction is over and contact the last 3-5 bidders. They are usually listed unless it's a private auction.
...send the buyer(s) some e-mails and try and push your car. If one of them gets outbid, he may come after yours... That sounds like a good idea, but is there an ethical debate there?
Why not just list it on Ebay for $1k less than a similar car?
I remember that we bashed heads when you opened your keyboard on the topic of street racing.:boxing :boxing
Trying to sell a car has nothing to do with Ethics buddy... I am in insurance school, I know ethics. I know utmost good faith...Hey, does your home insurance broker know that you have more than one gallon of low flashpoint chemicals in your garage? because you probably do.
That sort of misrepresentation is unethical.
Sending someone an e-mail with a picture of your car and a price has nothing to do with ethics. You "reach".
Dwayne, what is your opinion on Marijuana? :jester :jester :boxing

I beg to differ. It would be unethical to misrepresent a car in order to make a sale. Ethics plays a HUGE role in almost every day to day decision and I commend Dwayne on showing some concern.

It does if you are targeting buyers in an auction that is under way in an attempt to steal a sale. On the other hand, the initial post was to contact bidders after the auction was over, and that is smart business. Pushy maybe, but smart business. It's called targeting those you know have expressed interested in a product similar to yours.
Bart, as a habitual beater of dead horses, let me just repeat that the "C3s for sale" section is not always the best place to sell your C3. It is a nice service that the forum provides us, but face it, most of us already have one! :) Sure, there are a few nutcases that have several C3s and are always on the lookout for another one, and there are also a few guys that are willing to take a flyer and buy one for a flip if it's a great deal, but we just aren't the same global marketplace as eBay. :) MJ

Wow, you need to let go buddy :lurk: So I guess for you that would be a no for an ethical debate :lolg: Your taking a course to become an insurance agent? Which college are you attending? You see, in order to get a degree, such as in my case, I had to have so many courses in Ethics. I only ask the question because to me there seems to be a 'bit' of a problem with the suggestion, though I could be wrong. Thanks for reminding me about the street racing thing, I had put it behind me. Perhaps, you should as well.
Nothing wrong with emailing the people bidding on evil-bay and letting them know you have a car for sale, details after the auction ends. You might snag somebody that got out bid. Nothing unethical about that. Also, there HAS to be THOUSANDS more potential buyers on evil-bay than there is in the forum. That's just common sense. Just my $0.02.
THANKS EVERYONE, for pointing out some things I hadn't thought of.
It makes sense that people who already have Corvettes are probably
the majority of users of the Forum. I have had 2 inquiries about the
car since I vented in the Forum. I also appreciate the tips about the
other bidders on E-Bay! Thanks again!!
