White Stuff on Windshield

This summer, the defroster vent in my '81 started depositing a white powdery substance onto the right/passenger side of the windshield. (No, it's not a drug coming from the vent.) The power is easily removed with a towel. It seems to appear even when the vent and a/c is turned off. Any ideas what this deposit is and how to prevent it? Thanks.

My guess is that a previous owner of your vette was a coke dealer.

I corrected my initial post to state '81 instead of '83. (I shouldn't post before morning coffee.) Any ideas?

Does your blower motor make noises ?
I could imagine the bushings in the blower motor going bad and the
squirrel cage rubbing - making white plastic dust.

Mice living in your vent system ?
