Default Eckler hoods

Has anybody had any experiance with Eckler hoods? What I need to know is how much extra hood room I would gain over the stock hood with a L-88 or LT Hi-Rise. Thanks for any help.

Welcome to the Corvetteforum.

I do not know the answer to your question, but am planning on buying the L88 hood in a few months.

Here is another source: http://www.vanacorvette.com

There prices look much better. :)

Welcome to the forum.

The Eckler's catalog used to list the height increase over stock.

Sorry I can't be more help, I bought my L-88 hood with air box from J.C.Whitney.

Eckler sells high quality glass parts, and the catalog does list the heights of their hoods....

I bought my L-88 from ecklers and was fairly bummed at the overall quality. I was told this is not the norm from ecklers. It arrived with multiple primer spots from repairs done after it was made. All of them needed to be redone before paint. I spent about 8-9 hours getting it straight enough to paint black. It was fairly lumpy. It bolted on fine, with only minor sanding of edges to get the gaps right. The hood sits right in the front and rear but a little high in the middle. I believe I gained a little more than 2 inches over the stock big block hood.

The Eckler's catalog that I have lists the clearance from a straight edge across the drip rails at the carb as being 3 7/8ths to 4 5/8ths depending on which hood you get.
Check this site out to see how to get a functional L-88 hood working with a small block. http://www.corvetteforum.net/c3/mdsmith/l88.htm

The L-88 hood will give you exactly 2" over a big-block/LT-1 hood.
