Brake Squeak Question
I'm getting squeaking from what seems to be all 4 brakes/wheels.This happens at different times. When the car is cold they squeak during stopping. When the barkes/car warms up they squeak while driving and not stopping. The squeak goes away when I apply the brakes. The brake pads are newer as well as the calipars. Any ideas what I should look at for problems? I've heard it might be time for new brake lines. Thanks

if you have the stock rotors all you can do is use organic pads, but the horridious brake dust is not worth getting rid of the squeaks. I think ecklers and mid america have some pad and rotor silencers/ absorbers that might work, and they dont seem expensive, short of ruining your rims, having to clean them daily, or change you rotors i dont know what else to tell you, if you have aftermarket rotors then maybe just some newer pads.

IF I REMEMBER RIGHT THERE WAS A POST ABOUT THE SAME THING. THEY CLAMED THAT IF YOU GROUND THE EDGES OF THE PADS THAT WOULD STOP THE SQUEEKING. CANT VOUCH FOR THAT PERSONALY BUT IT MIGHT BE WORTH A TRY.

Hi Schudd:
I had a brake squeak problem on my 73 that turned out to be rotor runout. The brake pads would move back an forth on the pins creating a squeak at slow speeds. Stepping on the brakes made it go away. I replaced the rear rotors and the problems gone!
