Hello Everyone,
I am looking for info about rally wheels. I am planning to put a set of rally wheels on my '72 vette. I found a set advertised in a local "auto trader" type newspaper. The owner told me that they were a set of corvette rally wheels, 15"x8", with rings and center caps.
My question is, how do I tell if these are corvette rally wheels or, does it matter? Were all the rally wheeels the same? What is the back spacing supposed to be and, where exactly do I make this measurement? I would really appreciate any info on how to identify these wheels.
You do know to measure bead to bead (8" wide rims will measure just over or under 9") --- there are after market wheels with dual bolt patterns -- but I'm pretty sure if they are 8" wide they came on a Corvette -- there were 7" on Mopnte Carlos and even 14"X6 and 7's on Camaros -- again I'm pretty sure only the Vette got the 8"'ers.
The Vette ralleys will have the letters "AZ" stamped next to the valve stem. 69 thru 82 are 15X8........68 was 15X7 I beleive. The camaro ralleys look very similar to vettes, but are 15X7 and stamped "FW".

I once owned a '70 Monte Carlo with factory-equipped Rally wheels. Car was EXTREMELY goofy in it's options: 350-2bbl, PowerGlide, A/C, but only AM radio, and the Rally wheels.
I'da bet a pile of dineros that Chevy had never put a 'Glide in such a 'classy' car as the Monte........
I love the look of my Ralleys with my Dunlop Qualifier 265 55 r15 tires, just a little lower in profile that gives them a more squared off look. I'll snap a pick tonight (if my dig camera cooperates) and post it.
Ive got 5 or 6 extra caps that I bought about 10 years ago for $ 5.00 each. Forgot all about them until a couple weeks ago, cleaning out the garage and found them in the rafters.
