Hi everybody. I'm a 16 year old guy and I've always been a fan of the vette, but never really knew anything, so I was wondering if anyone could help me find any useful info on the 1969 Stingray. Thank you for your time. :chevy
Changed it to Stingray instead of Roadster

There was never a 78 roadster built. There may be some custom ones around but the last roadster was a 75. The 86 saw the return of the roadster in a Vette.
wow, i've been here a day and i'm already learnin something new. well, since i'm only 16 and i like the older models, what would you experienced vette people recommend i save up for? i'm kinda partial to the stingrays since my grandpa owns a 1969 stingray, but i'm open to suggestions. thank you. :chevy
hey whats up man? Im glad your into muscle instead of rice! I bought my 74 stingray 2 years ago when i was 17, for $6500. Two years, new paint, transmission, engine, wheels and interior later, I have a pretty nice ride. The vette in my picture is the old color. Stick around and you will know almost everything about vettes.
I hope your comfortable with some tools because you'll probably need them. I also hope you realize what the real expense of a vette is. For 6500 mentioned earlier you could put towards a decent new car.
It really depends how bad you want it and how much your willing to put into it (time and money). I am only 23 and before I got laid off was doing really well for myself back when I bought the vette and let me tell you it is still a drag on the ars pocket ($$$).
See if GranPa will take you out in his '69 and let you drive it. What engine has he got? That is a great year! I also like the 1970 LS-5 454 big-block cars. My 1973 454 is also tons of fun. This is a great hobby and there is nothing like the view of the road between those big front fenders and the sound of our big-blocks!
Wow, an okie going for a vette instead of a Camaro? (i'm allowed to say that, I'm an okie too)
Stingray's are definately the best of the corvettes in my humble un-biased opinion  . I would hunt for a late 60's or early 70's model if I had it to do again. '74 and '75 were just awful years in terms of HP. Of course, that can be fixed. If you can't find, or don't like the earlier models, go for a 79-82ish so you can at least get some of the upgraded vettes technology wise.
In the long run, if you're willing to put some elbow grease into her it doesn't matter what you get, but some starting points are better than others. Read a lot here before you get into it, and its rare the first vette you have the option to buy is the one you should buy.
I know its hard to think about this at 16, but if you're just starting driving, a vette may not be the right car for you. Looking back at my driving history (i'm 25, been driving since 16) I have had 7 accidents and 6 wreckless driving tickets, and all of that was BEFORE the corvette. If you're looking for a daily driver, a vette will be useless during those oklahoma ice storms and almost as useless if you get a rainy year. At 25, I still don't know when its time to let off the gas, and i really believe that if I bought a vette at 16 i'd be dead by now.
I hope your parents aren't reading this and I just crushed your chances, but thats a pretty serious thing to think about even though it takes a lot of fun out of it.
wow, so many questions for me, i'll try to answer tehm all. first i'm an okie from tulsa. the engine is 427. i would ask him to let me drive it, but it isn't running right now. i'm not to sure as to what is wrong, though. i chose a vette over a camaro since kids at school have camaros and no vettes. i already know i have to put in elbow grease and i'm ready to do whatever i have to. and unfortunatly my parents have already made it clear their is no way i will have a corvette before i'm out of college, unless i pay for it. btw thanks for all the help, and for all the questions i will inevitably ask. :chevy
oh yeah, and i don't think that even if i get one it will be drive to work kinda car. i don't trust people. might mess with it. i would drive it around only when i felt like showing off. and if i get the one i want, that will be often. thanks again
