I'm using Flowmasters, but not Delta Flow. I'm using Delta Force - this is Flowmasters racing series. Plenty loud.
I'm actually faking sidepipes on a '70 BB. After three different sidepipe exhaust systems, all of which robbed power, I went to full length headers, Delta Force (they're very small) to the side, then 3" down the side covered by fiberglass covers - loud, low restriction.
Moroso Spiral Flows, they just pretend to be mufflers. :D
These are what I have in the 2x 2.5" variety.
They're nice at idle. They're nice at cruise...but for effect, I need to quote an old hot-rodder I know:
"Dude, your car idles quietly, you drive it around base quietly, but I've been behind you when you open it up to get on the highway...and when those secondaries come open it's like OH MY GAWD THE WORLD IS GOING TO END!!!"
Sidepipes would definitely be the method of choice, but if you want mufflers, and if you want extremely cheap, KBD Targas, (sold under a few different names/brands) worked great for me. Basically open tubes with some damping area around the outside. See the muffler section of most Vette part Dealers.
The 4 upward-pointing chrome tips are great :D
:iagree: kbd targa mufflers are a good choice. i have these on my 2 1/2" true duals and it sounds great. they look good too. you could also go with the already mentioned chambered exhaust or hooker sidepipes with no muffler inserts :reddevil
whatever you do, don't go with dynomax super turbo's :nono: they are very quiet. i had them put on when i had my duals put on....within a week i had tore off and thrown in the trash
BTW: My Dynomax headers with stock Y-pipe-Y thru Monza mufflers (not just tips) rattles pics on interior walls on start up and sets off car alarms when I park :D :D :D
Flowmasters are pretty loud, but they also cost alot. I actually use Hooker mufflers. They make the Aerochamber and Max flows and both sound good for about 50 dollars a muffler.
