How hard is it to put new bearings into 81 diff. Do i need any speical tools. Diff already removed from car. Are these all the parts i need. Or am i better off giving to to somebody who knows whar they are doing.
Many Thanks in advance.
Mick.
you're better off having it done, the bearings need to be shimmed so the contact with the race is set up correctly, the aluminium casings shrink and expand with temperature and to set it up properly you'll have the spread the case a bit.
I just had my 82 diff rebuilt with all new seals, bearings and gears and I took it to a qualified mechanic to have it done. Everybody tells me they are a real PITA to do. Even the mechanic said so.
That kit looks like the one I purchased from Bairs. If it is then it is incomplete. You will be missing 2 inner bearings.
Hope this helps.

Hey Turbo, have you heard from Ken about when the Vault will be up and running again?
Oh yea, also those ring gear bolts in the kit are not as beefy as the stock ones. Best to get the same type bolts or better that came from the factory.

Hey Ed, last I heard from him the dude that was supposed to install the cable modem didn't pack a raincoat and it was raining so he left. Haven't heard anything since.
