Default buying age

I have recently had a good chance at buying a C3 and missed it because I didn't offer anything soon enough....some people started telling me that I shouldn't buy one anyway becuase I'm too young and insurance will kill me!!! It turns out that my insurance would only go up like 20 bucks a month which is quite doable for me as long as I can drive a Vette :auto:

But my parents are behind my decision and thats pretty much all that matter right now....

So what age were you guys when you bought your first corvette??

Oh and I'm 18 by the way
Thanks
Dan

I personally don't think age should have anything to do with your decision as long as you can afford the insurance and the up keep I would say go for it.
I had my first hi performance car at 19 my vette I didn't get until my 40s. The only thing about age would be the maturity level and to be able to handle these cars safely. I won't do the lecture thing most of us went through a wild stage when we were younger and I was probably worse than most. So get your vette have fun and try to drive safe

You're NOT too young at all! Go for it. You won't regret it. I'm searching for a C3 for my daughter (16) and I to have some fun in. I waited until I was 40 to get my first Corvette, and wish now I would of bought one 20 years ago instead of the cars I thought were sports cars. Nothing compares to the Corvette. Plus, don't ya know, they all come with built in chick magnets and the women who own them have guy magnets, but I think mine is broke!

Got it when I was 15. Me and my dad went halves on it(we split initial cost down the middle). My half was doing and paying for maintenance his half was driving it and breaking it. I kept it in my parents name for lower insurance rates... just finally changed it into my name a couple of years ago.... I'm 28 now.

16 years old back in 1972. Car had been wrecked and paid $900 for a 66 coupe 327/350. Had $1650 in it after fixing and sold it 2 years later for $1850. Boy was I making money. A 69 replaced it.

I bought my first one about four years ago when I turned 17. Get a vette if you can make the money to pay for insurance and such! I sure am glad I did!
Make sure you have other means of reliable transportation though, because any 30 year old car will need to be fixed from time to time.
Good Luck!

I got mine a year or so back at 22 maybe at 21 I forget exactly when. I still live with my parents too and they attempted to persuade me against it. Although I think I got a good deal and have had more than my fair share of fun working on the car (Also got my father back out in the garage which has been a blast).

You can pay upfront and get a really nice condition vette that is relatively what in the end you are looking for (I would recommend that path if your not looking to wrench alot... ask/watch Cali think he got his chrome bumper for 12.5k)... but if your looking to do something somewhat new/fresh as I am hoping then get a project vette and get your hands dirty although in the end once I hit the 12.5k mark mine wont be as nice as Cali's new one but it will be what I had wanted.

Insurance, Gas, Hassle may dissuade you but in the end thats not why your driving a vette. I dont think I know anyone on here driving it because its the safest vehicle or the most effcient vehicle on the road... Well mines safe as long as I can go faster than everyone else... hehe

Do your thing and think bouts it hard. With the money I've put out so far I could have a large portion of a house downpayment for me and my girl of 6.5 years. But I need my TOYS!!!!

I got mine at 17. Go for it if you can afford it. Even though insurance may not be much higher than another car, maintenance will be. That obviously depends a lot on the condition of whatever you buy though.

I bought my first Vette for my 30th birthday. I bought my second for my wife's 31st birthday.

In my fantasies, I've bought a Vette, and many other cars, just about every day of my life. :yesnod:
