Default One T-Arm Out

Finally got one of those trailing arms out. The other is 90%. Ran out of blades half way through the last cut. Some one please tell me that this is going to be the hardest job to do.

Yeh.... it rates up there with rusted bleeders/brake lines & rust-welded parts.

Sure rattles yer teeth.

You're almost done with the nasty part.

Now you can have some fun making it all new again.

Going to send them both out for a rebuild. One of them will be just a build since there was no pbrake there

It is one of the most painful repairs that I can recall. My arm was sore for a week.

Where are you sending them? I have both of mine off and was thinking about sending them to VanSteel. They are not too far from here and I know they are somewhat active here on the forum. Does anybody know if they give a discount to forum members since they are a supporting vendor?

I had Van Steel do the trailing arms on my 1980, they did a beautiful job. They were helpful with my installation questions as well. :)

I am planning to send mine to Volvette. Good prices and they are fairly close to me. I have spoke to them and they seemed very helpful on the phone. I have also bought a few things from them as well and got fast delivery and good prices. And my arms hurt too :banghead:

I pulled my last one out the other day was'nt too hard. Here is a pic of the bushing. I was told by our lacal Vette man in Perth to only put rubber bushing back in as the urthane bushing wear out to quick due to the twisting in the trailing arm. Does anybody have any comments on this.

Also, I'd kind of be interested in what others did before reinstalling. Paint area with por-15? etc. etc.

OK, Both arms out and ready to ship for rebuild. Still have bolt head stuck in both sides (inside frame). Am soaking in PB Blaster to try and get loose. What is a good install procedure to keep arms in good shape. NO MORE RUSTING. I sure wish I could send my other arms out for rebuilding while I'm at it, they are killing me from all that sawzalling :cry
