I have been looking at the smart struts and they seem like a good idea but one thing puzzles me. When upgrading you can go to the poly adjustable struts first. These have the adjustable ends on them so you can eliminate the camber adjusting cams. The next step up is to the smart struts but I see they go back to using the camber cams. Anybody know why? It seems like not only redundant because the struts themselves are adjustable but also a step backward. What am I missing?
I just talked to the VBP tech guy on that subject and he said very clearly to me anyway, the cam adjustments in their smart strut package are not just the strut rods which I allready have, with the later shark stock strut support,...my question was if/what any differances in their center support vs my stock center support....I allready have the rods for some time now....
his answer was their center support lowers the inside ends of the rods by about 1.5 inches or so, and the cams they have in that location act in a VERTICAL plane not horizontal....the horizontal..camber is still in the rod length adjustment, but the VERTICAL placement can be fine tuned for various ride heights with the cams in their center support....so a step forward, not backwards....
Very interesting. Thanks for the info. I guess I'll just have to see the literature that comes with them for the whole story on the adjustment procedure.
