79 headlight switch??

79 headlight switch??

I need a new switch,one of the parts suppliers lists a switch that covers 68-82 at a good price.My question is,was the same switch used from 68 or were there changes made to the switch,I need one for a 79.

was told i had bad switch,i replaced it try'n to get dash lights working, but turned out to be broke wire. be sure you need it before you buy one!

If for some reason you have fixed or electric actuated lights, then you can use one for a passenger car, you don't need the vacuum portion.

My dash lights were out but the lheadights worked. My problem did turn out to be a bad HL switch. I tested it by taking a jumper wire with a fuse in it, ran from an ignition "on" socket on the fuse block to the right side of the fuse scoket for the instrument lights. It was on when ever the ignition was on (no rheostat). I left it like that until I replaced the switch.

Thanks everone,I have checked the switch,only the headlights are working,definately need a new one.It,s just that other suppliers show for different years,& I was wondering if there was a difference.
