Yesterday - I started to match my Victor Jr. intake to the Felpro 1205 gasket...
It really isn't too difficult... I used a (cone shaped) grinding stone in my drill to take off most of the material and a Dremel tool smooth out the surface and work the edges better. I finished one runner and most of a second runner... So far - I spend around 1 hours.. so it'll be around 4 - 5 hours of work to finish matching the intake to the gasket!!

Re: Intake - matching... (GrandSportC3)
I wonder what a before and after dyno would be worth on this type of matching. I did no matching on mine and the guys at work gave me a hard time for not. Any ideas.

I guess that it's only worth very little.. but I'm sure that it could be 2 - 3 HP or so... but I have no idea...
Im planning om doing the same thing over winter except matching the heads to, i thought you had a buy a porting/matching kit...... thanks for the info, now i wont waste $30. :smash:

I bought a grinding kit for my Dremel and a grinding stone (cone shape) for my drill.. I spent a total of $18 for everything...
I used the 1205 gasket when I did my RPM intake.I used a lift plate and bolted the intake to in,then upside down in the bench vise.Perfect working angle. No dremel tool,I filed mine by hand with a couple different size half round files.Managed to get two done a day, smoothing down the port an inch or so.
The AFR heads fit the 1205 gasket perfectly, and since they were brand new and I was still feeling the sticker shock,I left them alone.
When I installed the intake I used a thin coat of black RTV on the head side of the gasket, positioned the intake carefully and lightly torqued the bolts. The next day I removed the intake, checked the gasket alignment, then again a thin top coat of RTV and carefull placement of the intake.I think the port match can't get any better than that, and in over a year, not a leak to be had.
Glad to hear you are not wasting your time polishing after you finish porting.
Absolutely! I don't think that polishing does anything... The only thing that I like polished is the outside of the intake :D and it's already polished...
