Bottom Radiator Hose

71, 350/270 The bottom radiator hose in my 71 has a metal coil in it. The one I bought from Dr. Rebuild does not. Do I need to have this metal coil installed in the new hose?

I think there has been other discussion on this spring lately. Some have it, some don't. I have always been told that the spring was necessary to keep the hose from colapsing due to suction.

just got finished with the same job, old hose had spring inside the new one didnt , so far so good no overheating . :chevy

All that does is prevent the hose from crushing in when it gets hot. It's ok if you take the old one out and put it in the new one.. it's a good piece of insurance...IMHO
