Battery Tinder?
I store my 03 vette during the winter months and last winter I kept a battery tinder attached to the battery through the cigarette attachment. A friend of mine told me that leaving a battery attached to such a device will wear the battery out sooner and that I should diconnect one cable from the battery so there will not be any drain on it. :confused: I thought I read that it was a good idea to connect a battery tinder on a stored vette!

As long as it maintains a full charge without overcharging it you should be fine. Ideally you would do both. Disconnect it and put it on a trickle charger, but I think what you're doing should be fine as long as it maintains a full charge and does not overcharge.

I have 2 of these simple things. All it does is apply 12volts at a very low current to the battery. It does not charge the battery, it just keeps it at 12 volts. I have used it for long periods of time without any problems. OK I quess if the battery is low then it will in fact charge it to 12 volts but it is going to take a long time. I use one on my 76 and the other on my 57 Thunderbird during long down times.

I use two of them also, for my 1970 El Camino and a 1957 Thunderbird and they work great for storing the car, I've never had any problems leaving them months at a time and they start right up. :iagree:
