Default Why do they designate the 2005 a C6?

OK, Now that I have offically seen the 2004 in a commercial, and we have confirmed what it looks like, tell me why it is designated as a C6? The so called C3's went thru higher degree of variations than what appears to be the case for the 2004 C6. Is it just cause they did away with the hidden head lights? :confused:

They completely redid the car. They just kept the styling similar. But the drivetrain, suspension, interion, etc. have all been redone.

Can't we say the same kind of statement for the various years 68 thru 83?? Guess I am just a conservative purest. I would have expected a more radical body redesign to qualify a C designation rollover. :skep:

P.S. I have an Idea, lets change the C3 designation to follow somthing like this;
68 -72 C3-1
73 C3-2
74 -76 C3-3
77-83 C3-4

Never mind, this is getting too tough for me trying to recover from my New Year's eve partying

The C6 will come out in late 2004 as a 2005 model. Most of the design changes are drivetrain and suspension related. Wheelbase is shorter, wider, and many of the other changes are yet to be announced.

Body style does not represent a radical change but it does look good.

I gree with Yaw, Same ugly C5 with updates. Looks like GM has run out of money and Ideas on the corvette program. Looks more like the discontinued Firebird

I wouldn't go so far to say it's ugly.......but I do like the looks of the 68-72 alot better. I just think Chevy is pulling a marketing ploy to justify raising the price and selling more cars :rant:

Have to disagree. I actually am starting to like it more than the C-5's and look at the LS-2 performance mods. 400/400 not bad for the standard motor. Lets see what the Z06 brings .......500/500???????

According to the Corvette chief engineer (Dave Hill) the parts that are carried over from the C5 will fit in a basket, so I'd say that qualifies as a new generation.

Motor Trend lists $45k base and "as tested" with options of $52k. About the same as the C5, I think?

Take your pick for c- designations, c2's through c3's had the same frame... c-5 through c6 altered platform. Skin or innards, there doesn't seem to be a consistent theme anyhow. In any case I can't wait to see the re-design on the road.

The "C" designations didn't come about until just recently anyway. It looks awesome!
