Heat riser questions ?
Why is the purpose of the heat riser? Why is it only on the passenger side of the exhaust system?
I have a lower compression rate on the passenger side of the engine, could the heat rise be the cause?
Thanks for your usefull answers,
Mike
As for your compression,I can't see how the heat riser will have any effect.
With the riser closed or partially closed, the exhaust gasses pass upward from the passenger side, through the intake manifold, and are exhausted through the drivers side system. That's why there is only a heat riser on one side.
As the engine warms up, the thermostatic coil on the heat riser opens, allowing the "flapper valve" to open. This then allows free flowing exhaust. Should have absolutely NO effect on the compression ratio. Chuck
