Default need help with electrical

It all started when I replaced the turn signal flasher. There was a resistor looking thing located under the flasher, does it need to be replaced too. I keep blowing tail light and instrument panel fuses. Any Ideas?

No, but you may hear a little poping in your radio when you use the signal.

No popping. Radio unaffected.

Have you removed this " resistor looking thing" which sounds like a capacitor.
What year is your car?

If it's a capacitor, they were used in the old days for radio interference supression before FM reception.Remove it it's not needed. If you are still blowing fuses, you may have a short somewhere.Bur try removing the cap first.

Did you remove the capacitor? If so are you still having problems?

Flasher may not have been bad. May have another problem. Try changing the bulbs and inspecting the sockets for corrosion or broken insulators.

On my 1975, somebody had wired a capacitor across the two leads on my brake light switch. It didn't blow fuses when it went bad, it just stopped the brake lights from working. It looked as if Bubba or a dealer had installed it. Definately not from the factory. I removed the capacitor and everything was fine.

BTW I also had a capacitor attached to the flasher as you described. I haven't noted any snapping or other problems since removing it also.

changing the flasher cured the problem with the flashers. I think the resistor thing is the problem.

removed mine too but the taillight instrument problems started. I'll try a new flasher.

Was this flasher exchange a simple pop-out-pop-in deal? Did you have to remove ANYTHING to get to it? And when do the fuses blow? What's going on?
Was the car like this when you got it, or was everything fine, then, one day no flashers and now this.
