Starter Info Needed
Good friend of mine suggested a starter out of a 1989(?) Chevy pickup. I have a 1980 Corvette. For about the same price, I can get a Jegs "Prostarter" Starter Model #555-10001. Does anybody have any experience with either of these starters, or suggestions on a better starter? The car has a 350 in it, with mild upgrades. Thanks :flag

I'm running a starter out of a 1997 big-block pickup. Compared to the stock starter this thing is tiny. Weighs less than 10lbs, draws about 1/4 the current and cranks like crazy. I love it. It's gear reduction, permanent magnet. The aftermarket has similar starters, but I always prefer GM parts over aftermarket where possible. I also got a lifetime warranty from autozone.
