Default Using Eckler Ramps for Repairs

I recently purchased Ultra Ramps Plus - Part# 35012 from Ecklers and I was wondering if I have to do anything special to my 76 Vette before I drive onto the ramps? Such as not closing the doors all the way. I was told sometimes when you have repairs done to your Vette on lifts the Mechanic will not have the doors closed fully. Is this true? Any information about using these ramps would be appreciated.

That is a good question and I have seen some open doors when on a lift and some do not.

I dont' have an answer for you but...... TTT (to the top). Maybe someone can chime in.

Agallup54,

You don't have to do anything special, your car is still sitting on it's wheels.
The only thing you have to be careful is when driving up on the ramps they tend to kick out from under the front wheels. I place a rubber mat under each ramp to keep it from sliding on the concrete floor in my garage.

when i used to work as a gs we would usually open the doors of vettes when we would put them on a lift, but in this case all you are doing is essentially parking the car on a hill. if you jack the car up under neath the door (ive noticed on my 69) that the door is hard to open and should probably be left ajar.

I won't be doing any repairs until after Winter, Vettes put away. Once I use them I'll get back to you about how the ramps workout.

I have a set of these ramps and the way they are designed, they shouldn't kick out or slide forward. They have a plastic section that hooks into the steel part of the ramp. The plastic part starts at a very low angle so as you drive up, the weight of the car keeps the ramps from moving. I've never had them move on me.
I would love to own a kwiklift. Is there a website that gives more info?
