just got my car running again after about 2 yrs of rebuilding. my problem is i have no pressure on the brake pedal. the vaccuum coming out of the carb is great, it almost hurts to put your finger over the tube! i thought it could be the check vale so i pullied it out of the booster and you could hear the air going in so it can't be the booster. i bled the brakes before anything else b/c thats the first thing that came to my mind. the master cyl. is new the carb is new, and the fliud is new. what could cause the pedal to be soft?
thanks a ton for the info

aight, i'll try bleedin them again. i still don't think thats it though. i seriously heve zero pressure on the pedal, when you take off the vaccuum line the pedal get better but still nowhere near what it should be.
thanks again

First, did you bench bleed the master cylinder before installing it?
Second, I had the exact same thing happen to me. The first Master cylinder was defective, fluid only cycled within the cylinder as I pressed the brake pedal. Took forever to t/s because I didn't want to believe the newly rebuilt master cylinder was bad. I exchanged it with a brand new (instead of rebuilt) master clinder, bench bled and installed it, and everything worked perfectly.
Hmmm, if you can bleed the system then it wouldn't be the master cylinder. How is the pressure coming out of the bleeders when you pump the brakes? Does it squirt out, or does it just dribble out? You can test the system by doing the one man bleeder method so you can watch how the fluid comes out of the bleeders.
no i didn't bench bleed it but i did get my dad to pump the brakes so i have ok pressure. it doesn't shoot out and hit the wheel wells but it doesn't dribble out either. kinda pushes out with a little arch.
thanks for the help i hope we can come up with an answer, i can't wait to get it back on the road.
