I have been thinking very seriously about NCRS/Windsor. It's a long ride south, however. About 475 miles. And of course if I showed up with those wheels I would not be allowed in the parking lot ;) .

Paul, that could'nt be farther from the truth. NCRS driven cars there feature many modified cars, it's just they are not judged-just there for display or Sportsman. Matter of fact many straight axle cars are showing up in these "Paul Newman/C4 chassis conversions" setups. ANY Corvette NCRS member's car is always welcomed.
Paul,
I was being somewhat facetious. I am a member of NCRS and my car is basically stock if not "correct." But quite frankly the 327 is NOM and I would not even try to have it judged. On the other hand I have been very busy this winter getting some interesting parts together for the spring including A85 shoulder seat belts and A82 head rests. I have all new gauges (speedo, tach, etc.) for the cluster as well. So I am primed for the spring if not NCRS. I am thinking about Windsor but that is a long drive in this old car.
BTW all four wheels are painted now and here is the alternative to the spinners. I would appreciate your comments aye or nay for the spinners. They do look like they were made for a F*** Cobra. But a Cobra is a pretty car....
Does anyone have pictures of Cobra wheels on a Vette? I remember seeing some on a 68 or 69 with sidepipes, but I can't find that picture anywhere. They looked pretty cool and you can get them in 17" with our backspacing and bolt pattern.
Am I the only person that finds it strange that the person built the car is "John Hinckley" and all of the pictures linked to AOL begin with "RRedrum"?
Here's a little something to take down to the A&W on Saturday evening.

Re: New Wheels Arrived Today (paul67)
[QUOTE]The wheels were $216.00 each plus shipping to Canada ($25.00 each).
The word "custom" requires some explanation as the wheels are not one-off, unique creations. They are two-piece assembly line units where the centres (grey) are matched to the outers (polishes) to get the required width, backspacing and offset for a particular vehicle. In that sense they are "custom made." The pic shows some type of weld that holds the two pieces together. These wheels are 15" with 3 3/8" backspacing and 1/8"+ offset.QUOTE]
Will thanks for posting this as that is a reasonable price for wheels with the correct off-set and on-the-shelf design.
Now I need to save this info for the future. :D
My first inclination was to go with bolt-on, knock-off repros but they are around $1899. Much too much for me. So here I am! Today I installed each and every screw with anti-seize as a preliminary for the real thing in April. I am ready but the weather is not. BTW American Racing is in CA so your shipping would be minimal. But 'phone them re application and backspace/offset before you order.
It is a very potent car but much beyond my resources. But dreaming is free. It's so unfortunate that I cannot access archives. The story of that car is fascinating and goes back to the day it was sold in CA complete with pics. But I can't access the thread!
