These were custom-made by American Racing for my 1967. I waited nine weeks for them to be done but that wait is worth it. They are very nice....The model is CL205, a variation of two-piece Torq Thrust IIs built to custom specs. The custom specs relate to the width (6") and offset to clear the fenders. I will paint the middles semi-gloss black to get the look I am seeking. Thought I would share. The UPS brown truck can brighten up a miserable winter!
Thanks. The Z-rated Pirellis are in the basement. I hope to get the tires installed and get everything on the car in about two weeks. That will be in commercial storage but I can take pics. The car comes out in April.
Just a few additional comments. The usual question with Torq Thrusts IIs is do they clear the calipers? Yes they do and you can see why in this pic: the spokes are splayed outward to clear the calipers.
I painted one this evening and it turned out well. Just a comment on globalisation of the automotive industry. The "American" wheels are indeed USA. The AR spinners are from South Africa, the AR caps are from Taiwan and the lug nuts are from China. And the quality seems fine overall. Do you know where your Corvette parts are coming from?
Paul,
Very nice choice of wheels. I really like that style. Are you going with the spinners or the bullet caps?
I think you'll be happy with the Perilli's too. I have them on the '77 ( 255/60VR15 ) , the 4 X 4 Suburban and on the Park Ave. I just got deal on P6000's for the Park Ave. 215/65-15 for $60 each.
I've gotten very good tread wear out of the Perillis. Over 40K on the Suburban. Not too shabby for 31-10.50R15
I'm even got a pair from the buick I'm putting on the boat trailer.
Jeff,
The recommendation for the Pirellis Z-Rated came from Duke Williams over in the C2 area. His article in the Summer 2003 edition of the NCRS "The Corvette Restorer" swayed me in that direction. And I had subsequent correspondence with him. Quite frankly they are over-kill for my kind of driving but for less than $100 each at Tire Rack I said go for it. What price safety?
