My steering box in my 68 is in need of rebuilding. I have seen various suppliers that rebuild these boxes, all at different prices ranging from $125 to $225. Can anyone personally recommend a supplier that they were happy with and certainly any that I should stay away from? Thanks for the help. :chevy
If you're going to rebuild it yourself then get a kit from Bair's. If you're going to send it out then Bairs or Van Steel would be good.
These are not too hard to rebuild but you should check a couple of areas to be sure they covered. If you want more info IM and I'll go through it with you. Price depends on the job done. I usually end up making bushings to hold the pitman arm side play to under .002", this requires more time and material then a standard rebuild would. The bushings in the kits are too loose most of the time.
See if the search is working too, there was a lot of sterring box info there.
