MSD 6AL
Is Blaster GM Coil, PN 8226, the direct replacement for the stock coil? It says "This style coil was used on pretty much anything that came out of GM until 1996 (except DIS systems)" but it doesn't seem to be the right one. It references two connectors, usually one gray and one black. Mine has three connectors, a black one that goes to the bottom of the distributor and a brown and white one that seem to be the positive and negative for the coil. If this isn't the correct coil, can someone tell me which one is?
MSD sells accessory wiring harnesses that seem to make the installation go much easier, pretty much plug and play. Part #8876 looks to go with the above mentioned coil plugging into the end of the existing connecter that goes into the coil with the other end plugging into the coil with all of the connectors for the MSD unit.
If the referenced coil isn't correct, which harness would be correct?

1. buy a pro billet distributor and a blaster 2 (canister style) or ss (small kinda square mount anywhere) coil, everything plugs together
2. You can buy a blaster coil that fits into the HEI cap where the existing GM coil is
3. MSD sells a cap for the HEI that has a terminal plug on it, to use an external coil
If you go to the msd website it explains it all. Everyone has their own opinion but my car has better take off at lower rpm's with the 6al, and pulls quicker from say 4500 to 5800 rpms. I think it was well worth the money
If I buy the coil, do I need the pickup as well or does it just replace the stock coil.
Is there an accesory wiring kit, like the one that I posted, that will allow for quick plug and play on the 6AL with the 77?

The MSD6AL comes with very good easy to follow instructions. It explains where all your existing wires and new wires hook up after installation. Don't worry it has all three ways to hook it up for a HEI in the box. It's really a pretty straight foward simple hookup. Had mine mounted and hooked up in less than 2 hrs.
The really hard part is finding a place to put it :D
