Re: Does your Vette have Matching Numbers? (Red Sting 70)
No motor or tranny when I picked up the car.....and currently working on it and trying to sell the bike for the frame swap which is prepped and ready to go!
Re: Does your Vette have Matching Numbers? (Stoge)
My car was almost ready for the scrap heap when I bought it. I was lucky that the body, frame, engine and transmission all matched. Not much of anything else but I am working on it.
Re: Does your Vette have Matching Numbers? (Red Sting 70)
Yes, all original including tires, paint, exhaust, belts, etc. I have changed plugs and will be replacing the tires this spring but will be saving the originals.
Re: Does your Vette have Matching Numbers? (Red Sting 70)
My understanding of matching numbers refers to
engine, tranny, and rear end.
Other stuff is minor according to some websites.
Thanks for your votes so far, keep them coming.
Well, depends on what you mean by minor. The difference betweeen the value of, say, a big block vert with just a matching numbers drivetrain, and one that has all parts matching is many thousands of dollars. Hell, a smog system with the right numbers alone would add a couple thousand in value to my particular car.

Matching numbers :lolg:
Not even close. I have a vanacor spoiler (see sig) and a custom leather/velour interior. The original motor was blown to smitherines by the original owner when he was running 1/4 miles at Cecil County Dragway.
My wife and I enjoy the corvette very much. We have fun, that's what counts.

ONLY if someone WANTED it in there and was willing to pay extra for it. My first project on ANY smog-pump-equipped car (if I can get away with it) is to tear it out and smash it with a BFH. :D

Well, yeah. That's the point. To some people numbers matter. To some they don't. Different strokes, and all that. To someone looking for a an original car, a smog pump on a big block '69 vert is worth a couple grand. That's not good or bad, just a a fact.
