Tom, I hate to be a PIA, BUT will this earlier model fit in my present LT-1/L-46 radiator support? It's only 23 inches.

http://www.dewitts.com/pages/product...asp?ProdID=266

Nope! Earlier you said Big block but if the support is a true LT1, that would be the A70 model

When measuring a radiator, you only measure the core area. In between the mounting headers. Possible sizes are 22.5" (68 only) 26.0" or 27.5"

Yeah Tom, I'm swapping in a BB in place of my 350.
Which of your BB radiator setups will fit in my L-46/LT-1 support? My '70 is originally an L-46 and has the L-46 radiator support.

I'm trying to avoid buying a BB radiator support.

Sorry for the confusion.

[QUOTE]Tom,
67 327-350 hp, no a/c, 4 spd, dated D67.
what will the damages be , full delivered price with all of you discounts?

Don
QUOTE]

Well, the 941 is $695. The detailing is $75, and the S & H is $20. That makes $790-79=$711

I calculated it based on 10% because so far the GP has produce, well let me count them here..........none!

PS: B4 I scare all the C3 guys away with this quote, keep in mind the 941 is a "restoration" radiator, not a "direct fit" replacement. The direct fits are $495 list.

If you're not going to buy the BB support, then the radiator is going to be the small block. A70 (26") There is really no reason to convert it to a bb just because your installing the bb engine. The bb radiator is only 1.5" larger.

Don't worry Tom I'm sure a bunch of guys will buy. I'll be ordering by the endof the week. I spoke to one of your guys this afternoon to make sure I had the right part #'s. A69M & SP460 for a 70 LS5. Again - thanks for the great offer, for me its less than buying all the pieces for a factory set up, since I have none of the originals. Just pushed me off the fence, now I have room for a n upper control arm brace

Tom DeWitt:

Boy, your offer is timely and enticing. I'm sure you'll get the minimum you need to offer at least the 10%.

My question for you is this:

I have a small block, non-air car. I am not going in the direction of NCRS so correctness is not essential. It has an aftermarket copper/brass radiator that is starting to show its age. Is the Direct Fit A63M w/a rating of 4,100 BTUs more than adequate to handle an aftermarket add on air or is it marginal (I have the factory replacement 7 blade fan,fan clutch and correct shroud setup already on the car). In looking at the Restoration 941B radiator, the BTU rating is 4,600. Just curious what yours and any others on this forum's experience has been between these 2. We're talking at least $200 in price difference, but if and when I do the air add on, I want to do this radiator swap once.

Thanks in advance!

Jim

I get asked this often. All I can say is that the stock GM radiator (and our 941B) had the higher btu rating. The direct fit is a 10% reduction. On that hot summer day in traffic, 10% of 180 is 18 more degrees, or 200 net. They work or I wouldn't sell them and they are light-years ahead of the copper replacements. But if it was me, I'd spend the extra and get the best one. Chances are your engine is bored, maybe a few more hp's, maybe air in the future and a 10% reduction in cooling? I know $200 is a lot but I spend that (more) going to the red wings game and it's gone. The radiator will still be there year after year.

Tom, I got some pics and measurements: 27.5 inches between the tanks, and 17.5 H, small tank on driver's side and larger tank on the passenger. The console data plate reads specs for L-46 but that engine was replaced by a '70-76 lower compression 350. That's the reason I'm trying to figure out exactly what I have and what I'll need. Bubba has been working on this car before I got it.

My rad looks identical to the A70 or A73 pictured above, except not aluminum. I added the aluminum surge tank recently. If you can confirm that the following pics are similar to either the A70M or A73 then I'll sign up too. Would the A73 fit in the L-46 support I have? As you can see, my drivers side has a leak already. Thanks for your help.

Jughead,

You have a 26" LT1 (small block) core support. You can see the lower right mount is 1.5" shy from matching the header.

You have a 27.5" (big block) upper right bracket. (Top center in photo)

You have a 73-76 type copper replacement radiator, used on both BB and SB.

If you want to install a radiator that matches the core support you have now, then use the A70 model. That was the same one as LT1 and it will fit right into your core support. You will have to buy the SB upper right bracket (top right) which we sell for $17. You might want to buy the rubber cushion mounts too, I don't see one in that lower right.

Also a comment on adding the expansion tank. If a radiator has a filler neck, then you can't add an expansion tank. Expansion tanks are "pressurized" and allow the fluid room to "expand". By adding a tank onto the overflow nipple of the cap, it's just a catch tank with a cap on it that does nothing.

Here's a pic of the upper brackets. As you can see the two in the top right are the ones you have/need.

Thanks for setting that straight Tom. I think I'll go with the A73. Do you include wiring instructions for the "complete idiot" to connect the fans? :D

How many orders do you have so far. 15% & free shipping would be great. :yesnod:
