Ignition Switch Problem - '69 L36
I'm only getting 11.7 Volts to the starter solenoid. I dropped the steering column and tested the ignition switch. With all wires in place (purple, pink, brown, red) on the ignition switch I am only getting 11.7 Volts out to the starter. If I disconnect the pink wire and leave all others connected I get 12.25 volts out of the switch to the starter.
Is this an ignition switch problem or an issue with whatever is connected to the pink wire? I looked at the wiring diagram and it shows that it goes to the fuse box (how do I tell which fuse?) and to a temp sw (what/where is that??).
Thanks!
Ron
The starter solenoid fires when I connect 12V to it on the bench, but when I connect it to the purple wire (that's only supplying 11.7V) the solenoid doesn't fire. I assumed that just meant that the solenoid needed 12V to fire.
Based on your post it sounds like the solenoid is bad??
Thanks!
Ron
