Hmm.. I wouldnt consider moddifying the door to become scissor doors is drastically modifying the car, let alone butchering the car up. It isnt liek this mod is irrevirible! I would really like to know your opinion on people puting different wheels on, different instrument clusters, wheel flares, spoilers, c4 style hood opnening. What about the 5 speed trans mod? It requires cutting the trans tunnel and crossmember. Performs better, and no real difference in looks once it is installed. Drastically moddifying the car???? You cant tell a difference when the doors are shut. Not sure how that is significatly moddifying the car. Still looks original. Same thing with people putting 5 speeds in the vettes.

Okay, that's nice, but I do. It's a subjective thing.

Nothing is irreversible, it's only a matter of $$.

I said I don't like novelty cosmetic mods, not performance mods. I can even accept performance cosmetic mods on race cars because they serve a purpose. If you put a roll cage in your car for safety, or spoiler on a car you race to actually improve it's performance, okay, it's a necessity for a race car, but if you put a 747 aileron on the rear of a street car for no other function than to "look dramatic" trying to give a false illusion of power, and you're an azz. Look, I'm not in the mood to write an essay on what I specifically like and don't, and what I find acceptable and don't. Why would you even care about my opinion on people putting on different wheels, different instrument clusters, wheel flares, spoilers, c4 style hood openings and 5 speed transmission mods? What I think should only matter to me. If you don't agree with me I don't care. If you're attempting to catch an inconsistency in my likes and dislikes, you probably could simply because it's all subjective. I don't think changing to after market wheels diminishes the car's overall styling, but there are a lot of after market wheels that I think look crummy and/or inappropriate. So what? It's a taste thing. How can I accept Centerlines on a C3, but not a C4 clam shell style hood? Who cares? Whether you think there are inconsistencies in my likes and dislikes or not is ALSO subjective, so just don't waste your time worrying about it. I'm sure you can find far better things to deal with in your life other than what some random dude on the Internet thinks of, or even considers goofy customizations.
I happen to think the car looks best the way the stylists intended. It's not like the Corvette started out as a sedan. My '79 is heavily modded, but it looks like a '79 Vette. The previous owner made a few subtle changes to the cosmetics that I don't like, so when the time comes to have it painted, it will be make to look as close to stock, or "correct" as I can. I'm even having subtle clashes with my mechanic due to changes he thinks I should make to my car to improve it's performance, but the changes would have a visual impact. I simply don't like the way the changes would look and don't want them on my car. If it was a dedicated race car, then he's have a point, but it's primarily a street car and that's how I want it to look. That's me. He does not see things my way, but it's my car and my money so I don't care.

Changing a doors function from it's stock traditional method to a scissors type is a VERY significant change to the car's intended styling. It's like the guy who made a convertible DeLorean DMC-12. Doing away with the car's gull wing doors is pretty much taking away it's most significant or notable design feature. Sorta really isn't a DMC-12 anymore. At least that guy did it to a wrecked car, and not an already functioning car.
Look, like I said, do what the heck you want with your cars. If I don't like it why should you care. My approval should not mean a thing to anyone. If you don't like my opinion, ignore it. Just accept that there will be negative feedback from those like me who can't understand or don't appreciate what you've done, and don't be surprised when nobody will give you jack for it when you've most likely outgrown it, and the car is worth nothing because it is such an oddity. As was stated, you have the right to change your car in any way you see fit, and I have the right to tell you you're nuts. If I don't like what you've done I can ignore and dismiss your car, and if you don't like how I feel you can ignore and dismiss my feelings and opinions.
