If you don't have (or have lost) the fine thread bolts you can use metric ones. Afterall, they look like they are fine thread. I found a metric bolt attaching my pressure plate to the flywheel! I consider myself lucky to have found that before I lost my legs to a departing pressure plate.
Some of my brake calipers were hung on with NC bolts forced into the NF threads. The good news is that the female threads did not strip out before the NC bolt threads did.
triadecho,
Not just on Corvettes and not just in your country. He runs a Pizza restaurant in a suburb of Melbourne, Australia. When I learn how to post photos here, I will send you a pic.
:D
Regards from Down Under,
If the power window relay fails just unplug it and give it to the dog to chew on, then unplug the cruise control and power window connectors from the fuse block and hook them together. Then splice a 15' piece of house wire into both the left and right power window wires at the switches and run this to the fuse block. Why didn't GM think of this
I just cleaned up this mess on my 77, soooo do I win a prize :D
if you hook something up wrong and fry the wiring no problem. just drill holes though the firewall plug and run new ones. the cord off an old toaster works just fine for new wire.
if the switch for the power windows breaks, no problem. just pry it out with a pocket knife, cut the wires off and twist them together.
decide you are going to get real fancy and use automotive wire instead of the toaster cord like last time. but you only have one roll, so all the wires end up yellow.
For non-critical parts, like engine mounts, you don't need to go out of your way to find correct bolts. Just grab the first one that's about 3" too long, and you're good to go. And it's convenient because you can just finger tighten the nut. Or leave it off completely.
(This is the first thing to be fixed on my '72 - I know absolutely nothing about cars and spotted this little Bubba fix. I'm sure I'll be finding a lot more.)
[QUOTE] When water leak is detected, Silicone and epoxy every seam and crack in the wiper cowl area(with about 12 tubes of silicone and epoxy). After that does not alleviate the problem, remove windshield trim (crack widshield in the process) and discover bird cage is no longer there(eaten away by rust demons)... continue with 15 more tubes of silicone and epoxy, fill the rail completely, Duct tape over the silicon, replacement of trim is optional now that the clips are gone.. after all, they came off with the trim!! /QUOTE]
On a similar note.
Got a crack in the fiberglass? Just slap a piece of duct tape behind it, spray undercoating over the duct tape to hide it, fill the crack with 2-part epoxy, and paint over when dry. Sell car quickly. New owner notices the duct tape and pulls it off and out comes the epoxy with it.
Helping a friend repair his front headlight and and guess what he found down near the front bottom lip of the left fender? First he said "ooops" then he continued with other not-so-nice words.
Got my new orange front turn signal lenses in the mail. I was so excited and ran out to put them on!
In the garage we found out that Bubba had installed the old ones using one direction, hardened security screws. You know, the kind with a beveled slot like they use to assemble the partitions in the men's room.
How about the nut that just will not start on the bolt......looks like were gonna have to crossthread her!!  Man these are funny! :lolg:
Just when I think I have Bubba tendencies, I read this post and now I know that I'm no Bubba. I ran into a few weird things on my car but nothing like you guys. The good news is that I just had my buddy (a GM Certified Tech) test drive my C2 after I did the frame off and he praised the vehicle for no squeaks, said it was the tightest C2 he ever drove!
