Re: Hooker Super Competition Sidemount Headers (Summerfun)
It's not chrome! It was sold to me by Summit as SS.
It bubbles up in small areas and when I try to polish it with a metal polish, it peels off!
How do I get a huge picture of my car in this space so you can see what the side pipes look like? That Avitar is too small.
HUH? That's not stainless steel! Sounds like plating to me-
Somebody better check this out-
Did you try a magnet on the headers? 300 grade S/S is non-magnetic.
:yesnod:
There are lots of us waiting to get these S/S pipes- they better be what they say they are.
 :mad
Re: Hooker Super Competition Sidemount Headers (lotahp)
Is there any way to make sure that they are SS
Are they stamped  part numbers
I also have been waiting for SS sidepipes to hit the streets. How can we be sure that we are not getting ripped???
Does anybody else have SS Hookers???
I didn't think they were available last year.....
Re: Hooker Super Competition Sidemount Headers (GasketDude)
Hooker Stainless Steel#'s
1 HOK-2224-3HKR $979.95 HEADERS SIDE MOUNT (pr)
1 HOK-50735-3HKR $410.39 SIDETUBES SS FINISH POL (pr)
1 HOK-21021 $143.99 Mufflers (pr), Sidetube Slip-in, Glasspack, 4"
As of 4/22/04. These prices were from Summit, but Jeg's was within a few dollars overall, as a package price. And both would be ordered factory direct from Hooker. Someone should look into a group price from Hooker which would also speed up production. Alot of these companies will keep these on B/O until they meet a minumum build number (ex. 10+ sets). Meanwhile you maybe waiting for 9 others too pry open they're wallets. I know I'm!
Correctamundo. The side tubes are back-ordered, though.
Re: Hooker Super Competition Sidemount Headers (Ozzie71)
The group purchase thing sounds good to me. I would be in! I'm just still tottering between SS or Jet Hot. I like the fact that jet hot would be cooler to the touch. I havent had any experience with it, but I do know from experience that Hooker ceramic is crap!
Re: Hooker Super Competition Sidemount Headers (The Dude)
Group purchase sounds good to me..........
:yesnod:
I'd be lookin' for the BB (396-502) headers and side tubes for the C-3- as long as they're S/S- NOT ceramic or chrome. The header coatings get all banged up in the wheel wells, and I'm sick of the constant maintenance.
:chevy
Re: Hooker Super Competition Sidemount Headers (MassVette)
I have Jet-Hot inside & outside in BLACK and cool to the touch with NO PROBLEMS. Stainless Steel has got to look good but that will "TATTOO" your leg if you touch (like chrome).

Been there- burnt that!
I got lots of 'rosebuds' before I put S/S shields on the side tubes.........
Re: Hooker Super Competition Sidemount Headers (MassVette)
I sent an e-mail to Summit and they sent me the e-mail address of Hooker.
Now I'm waiting to hear back from Hooker.
I bought a set of SS from Summit over the phone last year.....anything could have happened. You know what phones and chains of messages being relayed in a corporation could do!
They looked pretty good (not a shiny as chrome) when I got them and still do after I polish them. Except for the "bubbling and peeling areas" where the side pipes go into the collectors.
I guess they could be some kind of aluminium coating or something....I don't know. Right now I have no idea what they are.....thought I had SS. Paid for SS and asked for SS

Re: Hooker Super Competition Sidemount Headers (Summerfun)
:iagree: :iagree: with Big632 & The Dude. They've got to have some kind of coating on them. I'm sure you know the difference between chrome & stainless!!!
Re: Hooker Super Competition Sidemount Headers (Summerfun)
So, what are they??
Do the have any Part numbers that can be compared to the posts in this thread???? I am very interested in what Hooker has to say about this.
What is the warranty??? Give them heaps... :boxing
