Throttle Cable help
The trottle cable on my 68 has about an inch or so of play in it which causes the pedal to be practically floored before I have any pull on the linkage. I can open the throttle about a quarter inch if I'm lucky using the gas pedal. Is there anyway to adjust the length of the throttle cable in a safe way so I can enjoy driving the car again or do I just need to bite the bullet and go out and get a shorter cable by sizing it up with the one in the car now? I've current got an edelbrock on there if that changes anything (with replys that is). Thanks

Re: Throttle Cable help (68stingray)
You may want to check at the top of the gas pedal where the cable hooks to the rod at the top of the pedal. Sometimes that rod gets bent and the cable gets some slack in it. Just a thought, this would be the quickest and cheapest place to start.

Re: Throttle Cable help (Clown Puncher)
The rod doesnt seem mis-shaped so I dont really want to bend it if its not the problem. could i just measure what i need and cut the slack?

The pedal may not look bent, but it probably is. Many of us have taken it out and rebent it to get full travel.

Re: Throttle Cable help (68stingray)
Had the same problem on my 68. Tried new cable, etc. etc. Mine has a lever that clamps onto the rod. I bent the lever enough to remove most, but not all of the slack cable. Works great now. WOT.
