Bought a new 69', 427/390, M21, no a/c or power assist convert in Jan 1970 (I was 21, single and in the USN). Sold it 18 months later ( a VERY sad day). Got the '74 in 2002. I'm 56.
Bought mine when i was 34. will be 54 next month. i told my grandson this will be his inheritance.he was around when i started it up 2 weekends ago for the first time in 12 years( also his age).with open headers roaring, he had a grin that would have gone around his head if his ears would not have gotten in the way.
Got my first one at age 17 as a graduation present it was a 99 c5 coupe. That didn't last long because I wanted a convertible so I sold that and bought my dads 95 convertible that he bought new. I am now 20 and have recently be lucky enough to buy a 72 bb vert that my uncle bought new way back in 72.
I was raised in a Corvette family. From the time I was little I told my family I would get a Corvette when I was old enough to drive. Sure enough when I was 16 I bought my first Corvette, an 82. I'm 21 now and still driving it, looking forward to buying more when I get a little older.
Re: Average Vette Owner's Age.... (82CorvetteGirl)
I am 35 and bought my 78 when I was 29. Several months later I realized that I had a toy corvette as a child which was a replica of the actual car I later purchased.
Re: Average Vette Owner's Age.... (Brent Brooking)
I am 47 and bought my first about a month ago which is a 1976. My first ride was when I was a round 10. My dad had a radiator repair shop in Southern Cal and a friend of his had a salvage yard. This friend told him he just got a new vette in (1966) which had a underdash electrical fire. So my dad bought it and did the repairs. While he was waiting for a buyer, he took my cousin and I for a ride. I have never forgotten that ride!
30 in December. Grew up around them and never thought I'd own one. Inherited a '69 exactly six months ago today. Planned on selling it for a 427 AC Cobra replica... Now I htink I'll keep them both. Can you park a '66 Cobra and a '68 BB Vette in the same garage?
