Assuming I get my car running in the next couple of days...I have changed the points (first for me!) to do so. It appears I got them installed and the initial adjustment (0.019) done correctly as the car ran for 5-10 seconds yesterday.
However, the book says it needs to be adjusted beyond that once I get things going. How do I know what the proper dwell angle/ajustment is? I have the 350hp/350 engine. However, I know that the previous owner did some mods on it...bigger Holley carb, different cam, headers, etc...do any of these things affect what the dwell angle should be?
What year? HEI? If you are running a points type distributor, 28-32 degrees dwell should be in the ball park. My stock base engine '68 likes 28 degrees.
