speedo reading too fast?

I just recenlty swapped an 81 vette super t-10 into my 80 w/th350. It appears my speedo doesnt read speeds very accuretly. It isnt a smooth movement its much more jumpy and seems to read faster than I am going. My research showed 80 and 81 both had the same rear, 3.07 any suggestions? Other than that the swap is great, besides the tranny noise!
