Last year I was having problem with lift, twitch steering and the general feeling that the car was going to take off if I put it much past 120.
Well since then I have worked out the problems and now the only thing keeping me from running beyond 130 where it is still so stable is the fear of the ticket I will get if ever caught.
At 130 the hydorpoles are going by like fence post and I fear that if I blow a tire I will never stop sliding.
I could maintain 130 for long periods if the roads allowed it without fighting the car.
The big things I did to the car are coilovers all around and NO bump steer.
On launch I would have a problem with the car torque steering too but that went away with the elimination of bump.
Chuck, or anyone else... where can and indy chin spoiler or that lemans spoiler be found for sale for a chrome bumber c3?
You can get an aftermarket copy of the Indy spoiler for early models from the usual Corvette suppliers.
The Indy ft. spoiler sweeps the airflow around the front tires, cleans up airflow underneath & scoops up air for cooling. Put the 78 Indy one on as soon as possible, so early that the paint matches & it appears original. Rec. for all 68-79. Works great.
The track I was at has a very long run down area, so I was still accelerating well past the end of the 1/4...I actually had trouble seeing the actual end where the trap was. On one run, I actually almost missed the final return road exit! (I was still running without power brakes at that point!)
Keep in mind, my '69 does not have the original 427/435hp engine -- Using the old SAE gross ratings, it was 498hp. It outruns my C5 6spd car.
