is it easy to replace? mine is cracked pretty good, and found a replacement, even with a storage container. seemed pretty cool. is it as simple as un-screwing the old and screwing the new?

i think the one i saw was $149 on Ecklers. is that a good price? better somewhere else? can i find it on ebay cheaper? i am gonna go look now.

Mine had cracks all the way down the side and none of the tabs to hold in the shift plate were there. So not wanting to spend the money I went out to Walmart and bought a fiberglass repair kit. I ran strips down the sides to stiffen it back up into the normal shape and also to create a surface I can run my shift plate screws into. I only ran 2 strips down the side. I would suggest doing at least 3. It is messy as crap so wear latex gloves and mix it in a container you can throw away. If you have any questions feel free to email me

I've done my 78 and its rather straight forward...however, the 78 differs from the 75 one-piece unit. If you've got an AIM, it will show the various pieces. Your top I believe is a separate unit from the colored wrap around.

Only mistake James made was getting the fiberglass repair kit at that Union busting piece of sheet Walleymart!

If the vinyl is still good save the original. The repros do not fit as well and if you are picky you will notice other differences.

I used JB weld to repair the plastic and reinforced the side with plastic strips. Works great on console and dash pad shells.

If you do need a new console, see if Ecklers will match Willcox since Ecklers is a sponsor we should support them. You should be able to pick up the console for less than $149.00. I spent $129.00 before I decided to repair mine.

I've found Ecklers to be about the most expensive place to buy anything for my Vette
