Default black and blue

My current '79 is black but originally it was blue. The current paint has lots of dings, chips and was never done right to begin with. In addition, it's a PITA to keep clean. I'm thinking about going back to some shade of blue. Lots of threads indicate a preference for an "electron" blue.

To help me decide, please reply to this posts with pics of your Vette if it is some shade of blue and let me know what is the name of the color.

Thanks in advance and

I guess there are a few other questions to ask...

First of all, do you intend to keep it looking (near) stock, or does this really matter?

Next, are you running OEM wheels, are something with a bit more "spiff" like some Torque-Thrusts or Centerlines?

Finally, what's the interior color?

Since the paint on my project is > 1/8" thick, I'm peeling it all off, going back to glass, and starting over... I haven't decided what'll be the next color...

If you have something neutral in color, I'd consider something like a two-tone metallic teal (light on top, dark teal/aqua lower belt-line)...

If you're set on a blue...? Then go to a car-paint supply shop, get some paint chips from House of Kolor, Dupont, etc... Regardless of how popular the "electron blue" is, what matters is what YOU are happy with...

Finally, keep an eye out at cars driving down the street. You'd be surprised the beautiful colors offered by the different manufacturers, including some of the (dare I say it?) Japanese companies... Probably to hide the fact that rice sucks...

Take your time, find out what YOU like... that's all that matters.

My 79 is totally stock but I'm not interested one way or the other in keeping it that way. Interior color is stock gray.

Hmmm... have you thought about "Brandy-wine metallic," a medium metallic burgundy.... it's a DARK burgundy when not in direct sunlight, but the metallic reflects sunlight in a medium wine-red....

I've had it on several cars- *always* looks cool...
