VETDRMS, my setup is pretty similar so I borrowed your format:

SBC 406
1973 vintage 400 SBC block (Casting No. 330817)
4-Bolt splayed caps
Eagle Forged Crank
Eagle 6.0" H-beam rods
SRP Forged Flat tops
Speed Pro Moly Rings
Federal Mogul H-14 "Race" bearings
Dart Pro-1 215 c.c. heads, no porting work
Comp XR276HR Hydraulic Roller (224/230 @ .050 - .502/.510" lift) Cam is too small. It will be replaced with a Lunati 50199 (234/242 @ .050 - .530/.530 lift) this winter or sooner if I don't buy a trailer.
Holley "Strip Dominator" OR "Street Dominator" Intake
Holley 800 DP reworked by *****'s Carb & Dyno Shop in St. Charles, Ill. (For the single-plane intake) OR a brand-new out of the box Holley 750 vac. sec. Street HP carb. (For the dual-plane intake.)
Proform HEI distributor
MSD 6A ignition w/Accel coil
10.47:1 CR
Fel-Pro head gaskets (.35" quench)
Hooker 1 3/4" side pipe headers with open side tubes. NEW

Car has run a best of 12.09 ET and 113mph on MT ET Streets (3.70:1 gears) at sea level track (a while ago). Best at elevation was a 12.29 @ 114 at Bakersfield in June with a DA of something like 5,000'

NO RUNS ON THE NEW carb(s)/exhaust setup. Looking for 11.80s or a little bit better with the new cam. At sea level. Maybe.

I have a 383 with lots of forged parts, internally balanced, fully studded, billet main caps.

I would recommend every motor builder to think about using the modern coating availiable. I used www.swaintech.com to do my thermal coated pistons/chambers/exhaust valves. I also went with a nitrided 4340 forged 40 pound 3.750 stroker crank that was treated with oil repellant throws.

These kit's or rotating assemblies are about $2995 or so these days from www.flatlanderracing.com under stroker kits.

I would also recommend Crane Cams and Multi spark rev limiters for every engine build.

I believe that ARP small nut exhaust header studs are the best header mounting device made. I never have had a blow out of my FelPro Blue steel impregnated header gaskets.

I only use SFI Fluid Balancers. They are a lifetime investment. I've had my present one for 12 - 14 years on 8-10 different motors.

I believe in 10-1 iron heads and 11-1 compression for aluminum. Just a little fore thought goes a long way.

I see what your talking about George, I just am not sure how it relates to "Post Your Small Block Combos Here!". Sounds more related to the "how fast have you driven your vette?" thread.

Are you sure your in the right thread? Merlin hasn't posted here, or been discussed here.

A person here at work is basically a janitor and owns a Viper. He is not independently wealthy by any means. Anyone who judges someones intelligence or integrity by how much money they make is a fool.
I have a 350 block with a 400 crank in it. Does that count? Yes? Good.
Forged stroker crank.
Forged pistons
XE268 Cam
1.6 Pro-Magnums
190 AFRs
Edelbrock RPM performer
Stock Q-Jet (wouldn't do that again)
Dynomax 1 5/8 inch headers
Dynoed at 424hp at the flywheel.

Les,
This is the combo in my 70 Z28
- 355 (.030 over) w/ 11-1 comp. ratio
- Modded Holley 750 DP carb w/ 1/2" phenolic spacer
- Weiand Stealth intake
- AFR 195 heads w/ Crower roller rockers
- Comp cams XS282S solid flat tappet cam, 244/252 duration @ .050,
.520/.540 lift
- Hedman 1 3/4" headers
- Original 4 bolt main block

Desktop Dyno puts it at 469 HP @ 6500 RPMs w/ 439 ft/lbs of torque @ 4500 & 5000 RPMs through the mufflers. Accounting for the tendency of DD to be a bit optomistic I figure it's safe to say 450-460 HP.

383 "stroker"
10.5:1 final comp. ratio
Dart II alum. angle plug heads (with "LOTA" work)
Weiand Team G intake
Holley 750HP
Hydraulic Roller valve trane
MSD Ignition

Best E.T. 11.520 @ 116 mph

Auto. Trans.
4.11 rear

By the way cruised to the Keys 2 weeks ago. Temp didn't go over 175. And kept right up with the C5s. The car is as reliable as it is fast.
