I Have A 1982 Corvette That Yesterday The A.c. Was Blowing Ice Cold And Today It Is Blowing Hot. What Could Make Such A Difference So Quickly.
Any Ideas Where I Should Check First.
I Have Always Had The A.c. Serviced In The Spring And It Has Never Blow Anything But Cold Before.
Thanks In Advance For Your Help
Probably the heater shut off valve that's not working properly, it's screwed to the heater box and has a vac. line running to it. It stops hot coolant from flowing through the heater core.
If the compressor is turning with the A/C on then look at the heater valve. If it is cycling on/off very fast, look for low refrigerant charge
If the compressor is not turning w/ A/C on, then look for compressor locked up and blew fuse or lost refrigerant charge (hose, compressor front seal, evaporator, or condensor leak).
I'd start by running the A/C for a few minutes. Then check the outlet tubes on the compressor. One should be hot to very hot; the other should be cool to very cold. If this is the case, I'd go with TT's suggestion (a very good bet given the sudden change). If this is not the case, I'd go down the path suggested by Mark.
