Default Operation CUPHOLDER (first attempt)

Here we go, removed the lame original console, and built the "ugly wooden box". Here is the final result. It needs a bit of tweaking. The covering isn't perfect especially over the e-brake, and the lid is too wide at the back, it needs to taper between the seats. It'll do for now, I'll work on Cupholder Mark II over the winter.

Please no comments on the ripped seat covers, that another project for another day

And they wonder why the old timers that used to post here don't show up any more. Good grief

DEP - you gotta pull a few of those nails out of your head, dude.
We all endured the many posts that extolled your ability to
burn a music CD. Oldies at that. Geeeez.
There is no 100% rating anymore. When someone keeps
criticizing everyone elses posts - they just get the boot - no 80% BS.
When you say old timers - what - the last two years ?!?!
There are still plenty of people here that have been around LONG before you or I.

I think the cup holder came out OK, plus it is also storage and
an armrest - for those with SB engine and can drive with one hand.
What vehicle donated the pull-out plastic part ??

Big talk from a L-48 Caprice-engined Vette
I would have thought the priority for this car would have been to get the "slasher" seat and dented door panel fixed before a cupholder.

P.S. If criticism is banned on the forum, then I'm outta here. I don't need no stankin group huggs. What's next...raving about newly installed fender skirts and dingle ***** around the windows??

jeeze guys. Its just a cupholder. He's just messing around trying to make his vette more comfortable. Good for you. The ripped seats don't stop him from driving it every day, and i've been wishing for an armrest and a place to store cd's in the vette for years. Would you rather he sold the vette and started "tuning" on a civic? Good work man. Keep it up.

Good idea. I'm putting a CD player in my car, too, and the lack of convenient storage is a bit frustrating. I like the way you designed it.

Good grief. Did all the C5 people suddenly migrate to this forum or what??? The longest running joke on the C3 forum was the "cupholder crowd" on the C5 forum. Ack! I'm outta here!

See ya Dep. What's the difference between Star79 doing something that makes his car more practical/comfortable, for him, and you doing something that makes yours faster/more practical for you?

if the cupholder crowd was a joke, you guys really need new senses of humor. Try living in 100+ weather and driving a 4 speed and holding your coke. I don't know about you, but my ***** do not enjoy being cold.

Whoosh! That's the sound of the cupholder comment going over your head. If I have to explain, you wouldn't understand.

mine do. I just took my non a/c car down to Lousiana and had to stop and get some ice. I put the ice in zip lock bags and put them all over my body even on my cajounies. See another post in C3 sect if you need a definition.

My new Oyster seat covers are in a box, next to my new cam, manifold and carb. Projects like that, the ones that make the car undriveable for days and weeks at a time, I leave for the winter. For my barely 4 month driving season I drive it every chance I get.

Oh, and the cupholder came from a wrecked Tercel for 2 bucks in the junkyard.

Congrats on taking this project on and making it work! It's a heck of a lot more fun than buying prefabed stuff. Way to go!

No worries, officer

If I had actually cared I could have recovered my seats with PhotoShop before I posted the pics.
