Default XE Comp cams is there a problem

I have a (.030 over) 454 short block sitting on a motor stand. In it is a Comp cams - part 11-242-3 CB XE268H-10

I've seen posts (haven't searched or even read through all posts) about possible problems.

Should I pull this cam and go with something different? If it was yours would you pull and replace? And replace with what?

Now is the time since there are no heads on the motor yet.

Any special breakin procedures? I'm install a dozen plus cams over the years - always done the same startup procedures.

thanks in advance

If you used their red lube pull the cam and use a lube that dose not drip off. (I used Crane lube)
I have a SB XE268 no problems. My only regret is that I didn't go bigger

okay 75 Stingray! don't start that should have went bigger stuff -

on second thought - go ahead -- how's your idle, vacuum accessories, power and the like? What do you think you would have gained/lost with a more-is-better cam? Knowing what you now know which cam would you select?

Well you know the sayings:
Bigger is better
More is never enough
Ha ha
I personally don’t think I’ll be happy until I get around 400 Hp to the wheel on a small block
I am actually very satisfied with my current setup.
I can only tell you the characteristics of my small block with the 268 I imagine the BBC would be slightly different.
With the heads, compression and th400 trans being the limiting factors in my setup I still had 231 hp at the wheels.
Vacuum accessories work normally with minimal additional pressure needed for the breaks, Before I taped the breaks I came to a stop now its not as sensitive but still works 100 times better then my 84 Trans AM with WS6. I don’t imagine there has been any change in stoping distance. Did I mention I also have a single plane intake.
